Official Statement on the Passing of Former President Kim Dae-jung

Peace-lovers around the world!
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that I must regretfully confirm the passing of H.E. Kim Dae-jung, the 15th President of Republic of Korea and 2000 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, at 13:43, August 18, 2009 in Severance Hospital at Shinchon, Seoul.
Many thanks to all for the outpouring blessings and well-wishing at home and abroad during this incredible difficult time and to the medical staff for their best efforts.
All of his secretaries and I will do the best to set up a memorial service in his honor, in respect of wishes of Madam Lee Hee-ho and his families and in cooperation with the government.
